That gauge reading is how every one of these trucks I've ever seen are.
You definitely want the correct thermostat which is 195 sometimes labeled 192 I think. I've seen 180 thermostats cause failed sniffer test with not much different gauge reading when warmed up.
You can try an IR thermometer pointed at the thermostat housing when its warmed up and see what that reads.
Also, does the heater blow hot air or just warm air?
