I have a 2008 F150 regular cab, 6-8 bed, 4.2L V6, about 185K miles, I guess a 4R745W? About 4 days ago I began having shift problems. When taking my foot off the gas at freeway speeds, the truck bucks. No shift problems accelerating or cruising. I first thought it was fuel starvation.
But then a day or two later a message appeared in the little odometer window, "Trans Fault". I attached my Scangauge and there were no codes found.
I tried running with O/D off, and the symptom went away - no sudden slowdown. Of course, I can't get out of third. So I can drive at 2700-ish RPM with no problem, other than the effect on mileage.
I live in a condo, do no have a garage, and cannot do anything involving fluids, so it is at the dealer for diagnosis. Any thoughts on the cause?
To @everyone: Dealer says P0316, P0731 codes. Feels a complete Transmission replacement is needed - $4900-ish.
Those codes don't seem to imply a complete replacement from what I have seen, but my experience is limited.
To @Mark Kovalsky : the Forscan developer says he is pulling Forscan lite from the Apple App Store. I guess I will have to buy a Bluetooth adapter anyway, and acquire the full Forscan version.
