So, if your cameras look good, they just may say that yours is ok and not replace them…
The wiper arm recall mentioned the assembly alignment keys falling out, but the main and real issue had to do with improper spline casting tooth height. They found them to be out of spec and that the supplier was not measuring tooth height correctly. The assembly alignment keys have been falling out for a long time, most of which years are not included in the recall.

That wiper arm recall also does not say anything about inspection, only that they are to replace the wiper blades on all vehicles included in that recall. What notes did they put on your work order?

This rear cam recall could involve inspection and require the problem to exist before replacement, but IMO, since it is a safety recall I bet they will just replace them all like they have done with other safety recalled parts.

That's how I read it too, was that they would simply be replaced. Funny thing is, I have been out of town for a little over 3 months. While away, I went to a Ford dealership to ask about getting the recall done. They asked for my VIN because they said the recalls are VIN specific so parts have to be ordered (or assigned if already in stock) for that VIN for the recall. However, when we went to the service department, they said that earlier that same week Ford had canceled the 6 orders for other customers that they already had in for the windshield wiper recall and told them that the recall had expanded to include more than just the wiper arms. They informed me that Ford would not even let them place any of the orders at that time that had been canceled since there were no parts ready... So I figured I would handle it when I got back home.

When I got home the service manager at my local dealership said they had parts in stock and made me an appointment the next afternoon. They had the truck maybe 30 minutes and then the service manager came back and told me that my original wipers had passed inspection and that they did not need to be replaced. So nothing was actually done. Here's a photo of the work order:

Based on this, I could see more recalls going the same way... if it "passes inspection" then it need not be replaced. Although, I also somewhat feel like this was the dealerships choice and not necessarily Ford's... I dunno... but it's what happened, and it seems like a good way to hang onto parts.

I doubt there was, and if so I never got it. In fact, the only update that was every presented to me was actually through the NHTSA site, and the only thing that changed from the original recall was that parts were now expected to be available in late third quarter 2022 instead of the previously stated late second quarter of 2022.

According to this link, here's the remedy for recall number 22S26 (which is stated on my receipt):

REMEDY

Dealers will replace both front windshield wiper arms, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed May 23, 2022. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford’s number for this recall is 22S26.
And here is the service action:

SERVICE ACTION

DO NOT DEMONSTRATE OR DELIVER any new in-stock vehicles involved in this safety recall. Dealers are to replace both Left hand and Right-hand wiper arms and install a new wiper blade ONLY if the wiper arm is missing. This service must be performed on all affected vehicles at no charge to the vehicle owner.
Also, my truck was built 9/14/21, which is right at the end of the affected vehicle dates of August 1,2020 through October 20,2021.

I don't feel all that concerned bout my windshield wipers flying off... they may, but I doubt it. However, according to the recall, the arms were to be replaced, not inspected. I still imagine this was the dealerships decision though, and if there ever is an issue, I will still have my original receipt which states that mine were not replaced, as well as my original recall document. But, in light of this, I can see dealerships doing this for other recalls just to save parts... or to just be done with customers... lol! And honestly, I'm just glad they didn't have to do anything to my truck as I am sure they would have messed something else up!

FYI - for anyone having the front camera issue. I was browsing on Tasca and it appears that they have dropped significantly in price. Way better than the 250+ they were listed for a few weeks ago.

Thanks for the info. I just ordered one and we'll see if it gets delivered. Says it will take a couple of weeks to ship. Total for me was just over $80 with standard shipping. Hopefully they won't cancel and say it was an error. But it does list it as a sale price so we'll see!!! My rear can be covered by the recall I hope. It's got a scratch on it but not very foggy. We'll see what they say.

Doesn't appear to be an error, many of the online parts dealers are showing it at a similar discounted price. Fordparts.com says it is MSRP $88.43, down from what, over $200. Not sure why the drastic decrease in MSRP, but that's a good thing.

I also just ordered it. I also looked up on YouTube to see how to change the camera. It doesn't look to bad at all. Should be a tow or three beer job. I can hardly see out of mine anymore. It's just all washed out. Can't wait to get the new one.

if you have a good dealer ask them to place that camera replacement in the front instead of the rear. Or swap them yourself before you take it in.

I got an "Important Update" from Tasca today:

"Thank you for shopping with us! One or more items from your recent order XXXXXXX have required special ordering but should be ready to ship to you soon.

Your complete order will be shipped as soon as the specially ordered items arrive at our warehouse. We are experiencing unprecedented delays from manufacturers, which may result in delays in receiving your order. The next email will include your tracking number once it is available.

When you get your order depends on where you are located in relation to us (we’re on the east coast of the United States, in Rhode Island) and the shipping method selected. If you still have questions about shipping and delivery, please visit our website: https://www.tascaparts.com/policies/shipping.

Thank you for your business!"

Not sure how this is going to affect when I will get the camera, but we'll see. I suspect I won't see it for a while.

I got the same message. But either way, I would rather wait a little while and not pay $300+. Mine came out to like $80 after shipping. I'll wait and do the camera and my grill lights at the same time. Hopefully it ships soon.

I just got back from my dealer and the cameras are all covered under the Gold Certified warranty, so that's a relief. He has the front and pass side camera on order and expects them in sometime next week. The rears he said wont be for at least 3-4 months. He also noticed that prices have come way down on them as well, and is curious as to what is coming down the pipeline as this is quite unusual.

I got a letter from Ford a week or so ago , apparently my rear cam and some sensor on the front need to be replaced. My camera seemed to be work fine when I hooked up a trailer the other day. Guess I’ll have to bring it in when things slow down this winter. Just don’t have time to take my truck to the dealership for something that’s working fine and not really needed . Pretty soon they will be covered with snow and ice , probably won’t work till spring anyway.

Take your time, they aren't expecting the new rear cameras to be available until sometime in 2023.
