How do you replace a sun visor arm bracket?
The driver's sun visor arm bracket broke off where it attaches to the body of the vehicle. I obtained a replacement arm bracket and now need to figure out how to remove the old arm and insert the new arm into the visor. The arm is about 7 or 8 inches and looks like a big pin with some flat points. I'm wondering if I need to open the vinyl sun visor to accomplish this task. I 'd hate to remove the stitching to open the thing up just to see inside. I tried pulling the old arm out of the visor, but it's holding tight. If anyone has worked on these or can refer me to some information that would be quite helpful. Thanks.
Unfortunately, the sun visor is out of production now. I tried to locate a complete visor through salvage yards and exhaustive searches online, but no luck. The sun visor itself is in good condition, just the arm bracket is not. I may call a few upholstery shops to see if they can help. Maybe resew the visor after I remove the stitching and install the new arm.
The "D's" are there just to help get the visor off the ledges that hold it tight
You might need to destroy a wrecking yard one to see what there is inside
Then you will understand what needs to be done to remove the visor from the rod
Good luck
