Good morning. I have been battling this ford for months. I have replaced the flywheel along with the flywheel plate this is my first time doing something this big. I am uncertain that i did everything correctly. putting the drive lines in the same location as took apart Or the transfer case. So when i start the trucc if something isnt correct will it end extremely horrible. or it will be oh that didnt go into gear so i can address problem I would be heart broke if I start it put it in gear just to have the transmission push the transfer off the frame. I am dreading removing everything then reinstalling everything once again it took me weeks to get this far. I also replaced heater core coolant hose engine belts on U joint thermostat housing carburetor a few wires tire rotation. It is my only vehicle so i need it running tip top.
We have no way of knowing what you may have done right or wrong. Can it go bad? Yes. Being a beginner, I think you did too many things at once. You need to break it down into small projects. All you can do now is try it and see what happens.
Is this a auto or manual transmission?
From what I see it is a 4x4 because of the transfer case.
As Dave said it is best to do 1 thing at a time and make sure that part works as it should before moving on to the next project.
As fro pulling the trans & case. If you pulled the case from the trans and then the trans from the motor you kind of did 1 project at a time.
pull the case - project
Pull the trans - project
Swap the flex plate / flywheel - project.
Then just work backwards for each project.
Yea I know we said only 1 project at a time but in this case you have to do it this way and for someone doing this that it is new break it down this way.
When you were putting everything back in as long as the trans pushed up to the motor and bolts did not pull it up you should be good there.
The same is true for the transfer case. It should push up to the end of the trans before installing bolt.
You NEVER want to use the bolts to pull trans or case up to join them and that can break things.
