kevin- thanks for your honest opinion- you have a good point. Finding a muffler shop to straight pipe it may be tough, but I think I know of one. What power gains did you notice with the cat back straight pipe?

The cat back strait pipe was on the truck when I bought it, but I have driven a truck just like mine that was stock and you could tell a difference. for the biggest gain get rid of the cat too, it made a huge difference when I got rid of mine, more power, better sound and the engine ran cooler too. Millage went up a little also. I ran it with no cat or muffler for about a month before I got the headers. It was suprisingly quite in the cab while driving down the highway, but it was loud outside! Hope this helps some more.

What all was involved in removing the cat? I would love to run a true dual on this truck with 36" glass packs- it would sound awesome I could get a complete exhaust for around 200 bucks back home probably, but I don't know if they'll touch my truck w/o the cat.

Around in Minnesota they will put true duals on if you remove the cat. I believe if you pay with cash, most places will do almost anything to make a buck.

When I first got rid of the cat I just punched out the inside. Then when I got the headers on I had an exhaust shop run the true duals with out the cats.
