I received the "built" update from the Ford tracker. Does that mean any additional offsite work has been accomplished such as the hitch prep and wheel well liners etc.?
Built means that all has been completed, and it has been sent to shipping.

Hitch prep is done on the line. It's not sent offsite to pull the bed, drill etc. The bed is prepunched and dropped onto an already installed hitch. Wheel well liners, mud flaps and the like could be done offsite(3rd party), or even by the dealer. With all the delays, I wouldn't be surprised if dealers sometimes installed the small stuff..but like already posted, built should mean built complete.

GFX across the street from the plant installs the hitch after the truck is built.

it’s been posted here numerous times.
Not buying it. Not every post contains accurate information. Why would Ford be so foolish and inefficient to completely install a bed on the line, just to send it out to be removed and reinstalled again.....besides, there are photos and videos that can be found showing the beds with pre punched holes on the assembly line. Makes much more sense that the hitch be bolted on to the frame prior to the bed being installed, the pre punched bed that is.

here is just one of many posts here about the install:
“I talked to a nice lady at Ground Effects LLC (GFX), which is the company across the road from the Kentucky Truck Plant (KTP), and positively confirmed that the following items are installed by GFX after the truck comes off the Ford production line.
GFX does the following - Installs 5th wheel prep, Spray-in bedliner, Installs sill plates (Limited trim). GFX does NOT do - Wheel well liners or running boards

Might try calling yourself, again, not all information given is accurate. Specifically ask if they remove the bed. Maybe they(GFX) only drop the 5th wheel hitch itself onto the bed?
I suppose this photo is actually at GFX and not the Kentucky truck plant then. (NOTICE 5th wheel hitch prep)
Thanks all. Back in it goes. Hopefully that doesn't add another two months to my wait time.
Let us know if you're successful. I suspect your dealer will tell you they can't. You may have to try to push it up the chain.
You might also risk losing price protection. Idk
I'm in the same boat. I removed it from my Granger order back in January. Now with their large allocation for this month (102 and I'm about 45th in line), I'm very temped to add it back. I emailed Grainger and they suggested that I don't. I don't know if it's added on the line or after it's built, but I assumed that it was labor thing that made it such a constraint (if it is added afterwards). There was never a time when you couldn't get the kit from Ford (I have one sitting in my garage). I would much rather have them do it, mainly because I want the 7/12 connector in the bed. I wish that SD's had it as a standard feature.

Mine (in the box) came with the harness with a 7/4 connector. 7/12 would be nice but you need the trailer cameras and/or TPMS kit to get that AFAIK.

Yeah, I've got the camera/TPMS kit ordered, too. As I understand it, I'll get the 7/12 installed in the bumper. I also won't get the kit with the yaw sensor (that I want), which is yet another reason to have Ford do the install.
My two cents: I prefer a B&W gooseneck hitch kit because it allows use of an extended ball. But you have to add the 7/12 plug and harness which I got from https://nicholsmanufacturingandweldingservices.com. And there’s also the issue with replacing the left shock.

Cool. If you move the 7/12 connector to the bed using that harness, can you also connect the 7/4 harness to use for the bumper?
You don’t move any receptacles from the bumper, you just plug the new harness under the bed and add the new receptacles inside the bed. Then you can use either for a gooseneck or bumper pull.
