6.9 rebuild thread
Hi,
I'm jamming on a 6.9 rapid rebuild that I've been putting off for about a year. Working on it with buddy who's in town, and I'm on a ticking time clock to get the rebuild done, test run it on the stand, pull the old 7.3 out of the van, and install the new 6.9 in its place. Hoping to have it all done in a week.
I have all the parts layed out, and the bottom end and rings are already done. Currently cleaning up the HG mating surfaces, but first I have to dress my heads. I have a set of 7.3 rocker arms and some other stuff in the works.
Current question: I have a box of 7.3 valve springs. Can I use these with my 6.9 heads and a set of 6.9 valve spring retainers? I assume they are interchangeable, but I thought I'd ask first. also, just to confirm, there isn't any shimming required for these since they are just NA springs, right?

Another question..... Does anyone know that part number for a u-joint replacement (for the steering rag joint) for an econoline? I can't find where that part is in the "steering fix" thread.
