Fuel tank relocation
For the rear tank I am looking at the Midfifty 20 or 22 gallon aluminum tank and I will just cut a hole to mount a modern sender. I could make my own again but they make several that fit in the rear and I will probably install the fender filling port midfifty sells as well.
I've been contemplating making my own tank for my roadster project. Did you add any internal baffles or anything?
Years ago I (well, my design, but I didn't do the welding) made fuel and hydraulic tanks for some skid mounted hydraulic winches I designed. For that I had some sheet metal cut and broke into interlocking "U" shaped pieces that nestled together (it cut down on the welding slightly.

We have a 1950 F1 & we did relocate the Tank out back under the bed. It's a good project and
well worth doing. Not sure where you are in Texas but if you are near Austin - welcome to come by to see
our set up. We used a 20 gallon 1970 Mustang Tank from Rock Auto for around $120 plus the sender unit cost.
We followed Jniolin's really nice write up on the installation. Some thoughts:
o You will have to relocate one of the braces under the bed and you will lose
the spare tire space under there.
o It may make running exhaust out the back more difficult. It can be done it's just harder.
o Think through your sending Unit to Gauge set up Before you do this project. We used the '70 fuel sender set up
for the fuel pick up line & then we soldered on a universal sending unit to talk to our after market gas gauge.
o Think through your Tank Venting. We used a vented gas cap & thought that's all we'd need. Nope.
We had to add a second Rollover vent to adequately vent our tank in the Texas heat. (Much easier to do ahead of time).
o Having the fuel fill in the bed - Picture my son Zack lifting up the big heavy couch we were moving in the bed so I could fill the tank.
Fill it up before you start moving stuff.
We went really slow & it took us a weekend to do this project.
