I've recently just replaced the injection pump in my 7.3 idi. Once I tried to bleed the lines I realized that my electric fuel pump wasn't working and ended up having to replace it. Once I got the girl bled and tried starting her she wouldn't budge without some ether. Once started it sounded very...... I don't even know..... wrong. I also just did an oil change because there was fuel in the oil and it was overfull from the injection pump being bad.
I'll attach a video or two. Any help would be appreciated.
My guess is you have the timing off.
Even if you lined up the marks, or made a mark where the old pump was,
And lined the new pump to one of those marks, your timing will be off.
Turning the pump to the Pass side will advance the timing,
Turning the pump to the Drivers side will retard it.
With the "Engine off", advance the Pump (as the guys say) a Dimes with
at a time.
Be sure to mark it where you are now, just a reference point.
I had to highlight your links and click on open link to open them.
The good thing you won`t have any Mosquitos in the neighborhood.

Thanks for the reply, what do you mean by "turn the pump". I will try to look into it myself, and ill browse the forums for information on timing. Thanks Charlie, and thanks TJC for fixing the links.
An important part is what method you used to replace the pump. Was the timing gear disturbed or was it replaced inly using the three bolts?
If you used the bolts, things are simplified. When I went down this rabbit hole, white smoke called for advancing.
More experienced folks than I could probably chime in as to whether a new pump without new injectors could cause problems with previously ok (seeming) injectors. I say this because it sounds like there is at least one dead cylinder. Or it could be rotating misfires.
