My heat felt pretty decent at an eighth of the gauge. I thought it was normal and would want to turn it off after it had been on for a while in below freezing temperatures. But after I change my thermostat it got super hot. If you were barefoot and tried to push the clutch in it would feel like it was burning your toes! I was amazed at how hot the heater got!

Another thing to think about is if the fan clutch is not working properly. If it stays engaged all the time it will pull so much air that it will take forever to get to temp. My seems to take awhile on the cold (low teens, single digit and even below 0 times here in Sunny California, not)
