Possible Starter Problem???
I drove it today and got to my destination. Shut van off and when I attempted to re start it, the starter just turned and turned without the vehicle starting.
Am I correct in thinking the starter can turn but if the solenoid does not engage, the van will not start? I watched a video on YouTube
that said if the starter is turning, the starter can not be the problem with lack of starting. We did get the van started after hitting on the starter
but that may have just been a fluke.
Am I correct or do you think the problem might be something else. Thank you for your help.
Yes, I thought the action of the Bendix gear extending closed the circuit for the motor. Maybe they don’t make starters like that anymore.

I own a 89 Ford E250 and this same issue was happening to me. Turned out to be the Fuel Pressure Regulator. If I left the van sitting for a day it would start just fine with a couple on/off cycles, but once I drove it to the park 10 minutes down the road and turned it off it wouldn’t start again. I spent countless days trying to wrap my brain around what could be the problem. I replaced the TPS, ignition coil, fuel filter, checked all my spark plugs to make sure they were getting spark. Even consider a new starter and battery but it turned out to be none of those things. The FPR is super easy to replace you just take the doghouse off and it’s sitting right there on the back of the engine. Three little bolts is all it’s held down by and it just pops right out! At least that’s how easy it was on my 89.
