No oil

I've always used T6 in my truck. But apparently it can't be found. Every where is out of stock. What's a good compatable alternative?

I use Schaeffer’s 5w-40 full synthetic. They have a small dealership footprint but can also be purchased online.

Try local truck stops. Most synthetic 5W-40's there should be fine for the 6.0

Whatever you can find. I'm considering going back to 15-40 for the time being as it was so hard to find anything in 5W-40. Had to visit 4-stores to get my 4 1-gal jugs for my last oil change. $33/gal too! Ouch!

If you are going to use 5w40, any of the big brands will be fine. Ordering in online may be the easiest way to get some. And don't expect to many price breaks right now, unfortunately.

Yeah I'm probably going to go to a 15w40 on this oil change. The sticker shock is real on most 5w40. I have scoured the internet much of today and hard pressed to find any 5w40 under $35/gallon.

I do not know if any is in stock if you want the 5w40 but I just today ordered two cases of Triax 15w40 four gallon pack. Based in Texas I should have it at my door by Thursday.

Good price in my opinion and for our quantity it is free shipping.

My oil analysis at 227k miles (switching back and forth between Mobil 1 TDT and Mobil Delvac 1 ESP - 5W40). The change interval was 7422 miles:

I am not a fan of 15W40 in the winter for a 6.0L. Ford and International both say that it is recommended not to use 15W40 below 20 degrees F.

The analysis above was CJ4 oil. I now have one oil change on CK oil. Sadly I did not catch a sample of it last month. I will sample again in December this year (at 7500 miles).

I would use Schaeffers oil with caution since it typically yields high lead numbers seen on many UOA. What I don't know is the lead in the virgin oil or not.

Lead is not in the virgin oil. I paid for an analysis of the virgin oil.

Edit - I went back and looked - there was 1 ppm in my sample (1 ppm of iron also).

I went with the triax 15w40. It has great reviews for powerstrokes. Not a fan of the 15w40. But it will have to do considering. I live in TN and our winters isn't to terribly cold.

I used Schaeffers 9000 back in 2008, and saw the lead go up. I quit using it for awhile and the lead went down.
Then, I used it again in 2010 and the lead went back up.

Pretty conclusive to me.
I have the oil analyses posted somewhere on one of the forums from way back then.
