Crank no start
Got a 2000 that decided it does not want to start. Got a code for idm and pcm not communicating. Tried a new idm still won’t start also tried CPS. I’m not very mechanically inclined but not incompetent either. Tachometer moves when trying to start and I don’t get any smoke from the exhaust. Oil level is good and I’m getting fuel to the fuel bowl. It cranks and cranks but won’t fire not even with starting fluid. I’m at a loss with it and was looking for recommendations

A member recently acquired a no start truck that had a few empty cans of starter fluid in the bed
Starter fluid and glow plugs = bad
That said, it's your truck and we literally can't stop you from using it
Try starting it with your ICP sensor unplugged. It's the one on the driver's side head

Pull and replace fuse #30 (also a 30amp fuse) under the dash. Even if it looks good, contacts could be worn or light corrosion.
Do you have the wait to start light?
Have you swapped the IDM power relay under hood for a different relay from something non critical like the AC blower?

@Tnero998 , hopefully you got the old engine fired up already, but in case you haven't.
Below are a couple of "no start flow charts" that may aid you in getting it fired up again. Along with the advice from the fellas above of course. Keep us updated!
