rear electrical plus ID help needed...

i was checking the wiring on a 3rd brake light i had installed and found this plug in the same wire group as the rear brake/tail lights anyone know what this plug is for??

Check if it has power when lights are on. I seem to remember the factory lisence plate light plug looking something like that.

my factory license plate plug is plugged in and runs to the lower left side under the rear of the bed where the factory light is(it is spliced to light the bumper light as well)... guess they used to mount them there when you didnt buy/have a rear bumper...

not sure when they started adding rear bumper at the factory, but i know up until 92 rear bumper was dealer installed. the truck came from factory with no rear bumper and the plate light and mount bracket up under the driver side of the tailgate.
