Have any of you had problems removing the set screw holding the key lock assembly on the doors
? I’ve been trying to remove the screw, but can’t get it to budge. I’ve squirted it with oil, but no luck. I don’t have a torch small enough to get in the hole. I’m afraid if I force the Allen wrench too hard, it will break off. Any suggestions?
Many of us on here have faced the same problem. Mine resisted my best efforts so I left it to the body shop "pros". When I got it back I found they'd twisted the metal tube with the screw right off the tube it is attached to.
Heat and patience with penetrant "may" work. A left-hand drill may also, but the set screw is 1/2" or so long, and it's hard metal. If the drill bit seizes it will likely rip the tube off.
