Elec choke hookup

Where should I take the power for for a Carter AFB electric choke? I have gotten a few different answers, hoping somebody here can shed some light, and point me in right direction.

Tap into the Stator wire coming off of the alt. This will only give it power when the engine is running.

Mine comes off the alternator, like lxman sais it only works when the engines running, it`s on the back of the alternator and is labeled "sta" I actually went out and looked, your thread got me curious LOL!!!!
