Key fob losing programming??
how do I do that?
I know new key fobs would be required since my current ones do not have the button for start.
thanks..
Now that you have the hardware required you have two options, 1) Take the truck and keys (all of them) to the dealer and pay to have them program them to your truck and activate the oem remote start system (AFTER YOU HAVE COMPLETELY REMOVED THE AFTERMARKET SYSTEM, RESPLICED ANY WIRES THEY MAY HAVE CUT AND TOSS IT IN THE TRASH)
Your 2nd option is to d/l that forscan program I linked above to a Windows laptop or tablet with a usb port and so you can activate the remote start your self and save the coin the dealer would charge. You'll use forscan to also program your new keys using the erase key function, keep all your keys together as you'll want them during programming along with the new 4 button keys.
The following link is an article I created to help alleviate the poor range we were getting by placing the antenna in the head liner above the windshield, google that part# so you can get the longer antenna lead to use with the antenna you get from ebay.
Once you program your keys and activate remote start the way it works is to press the lock button once then press the 4th button with the circle and x2 on it twice. Your truck will start and it will also preheat/cool the cabin using it's own ambient temp sensor, you can scroll thru the list of options for the remote start via center cluster screen using your steering wheel arrow keys.
That's it. You can also throw away those extra fobs that came with the aftermarket system, the fob on your new keys is all you need.
