Rocker panel '53-56 Ford truck
17+ years ago before I sold my '56 Panel to my buddy (which I now have back, the Panel, not the buddy, I never lost him) I had replacement rocker panels made without the indentations for the center braces where they attach to the floor, unlike the stock replacement panels shown above. I planned to "clean up" the rocker by modifying or replacing the brace. Do you all see a problem with that? The indents are just for attaching the rockers to the floor/brace right?
Without that indentation the braces would have to have a wedge welded to them because the cab gets wider as it travels to the back of the cab. That's why it's there..
John is correct; that said, yes you can add a custom cross brace or modify the OEM brace. I have filled those indents on my truck, the smooth rockers look much better.
