Hi everyone and thanks in advance fir any help
I have 1994 bronco that I have owned since I bought new in 1994 . She is my baby and I want to get her fixed up so I can drive regularly again. 1. I have a constant 5 beep then stop and repeat coming from under dash 2. The key reminder goes off when I remove the key. 3 abs module seems to have gone bad with no. Speedo or tranny shifting so I jumped the connector and now drives ok but no abs. 4. overhead console lights no longer comes on when door is opened and overheard console compass not lighting up .
I have replaced speed sensor in rear end put in new ignition key cylinder and replaced clock spring due to small broken terminal in lock cylinder . I also found and purchased another abs module but it did not fix any of the problems seller stated it was fully functional but it performs same as my existing module. I know it’s a lot but I have been at trying to fix this situation for almost a year with any free time I have . If you can please advise me on how to get all any or all of this fixed thank you
From my experience a beeping coming from under the dash is the airbag module. There is a fuse soldered to the circuit board of the module, its probably burnt. The module is a light blue box under the dash, you can take the cover off and inspect the fuse.
If I'm remembering correctly... one cause of the airbag module beeping is the airbag warning light bulb on the dash has burned out. With no light, it switches to audio to get the driver's attention. Easy to check if that's the problem, turn key ON and look for the Airbag light over on the left side of the instrument cluster.
For ABS, have you checked for ABS trouble codes? Jumpering two particular terminals together on the red ABS Test connector under the hood, and then turning key to ON will cause the ABS controller to blink out trouble code(s) on the dash ABS light. Most of the schemes I have seen to do the ABS test are WRONG! Because the shop manual has a screw-up in it, and it has been repeated all over the place! I had to figure it out on my own. Only tool needed is a large paper clip cut parallel with wire cutters. If you need the two pin numbers, I'll have to look them up in my notes. Code 16 is everything's OK. But I think that is only what the ABS controller can see, so I think there can be problems in the HCU (Hydraulic Control Unit, that's the unobtainable part that has the valves, pump, and accumulators inside) and the controller may not be able to see some of the problems that could occur in there.
