66 long bed. Bed side tool box.
my latch is broken.
I found an older post where the part number C4TZ9946112A was posted. It was noted that it's not available. I am curious if anyone knows of an available replacement? Can be used.
Have you ran the number in PartsVoice or RearCounter? Those are almost unobtanium, other than used, though. I seem to recall a few threads listing possible alternatives, but no one seems to have reported on their suitability as substitutes.
Have you been able to determine what exactly is broken? The latch itself is a very stout piece of metal that would be hard to break. Some have a broken or missing spring which holds the latch in the locked position. I've made springs for some people. If you only needed a spring or a lock mechanism it might be fixable. They are easily disassembled if you pull the hitch pin and slide out the clevis pin it will fall apart the rest of the way.
The pin is there. The lock is broken. The spring is missing. The mechanism that pushes the pin down when the latch is lifted is broken. I have the pin in my tool box at home. I don't want it getting lost. I have a small bungee holding it closed.
The lock cylinder is easily replaced. Just drill it out (I think that it was a 1/2" bit) and take the pieces to a locksmith. I bought a generic replacement for $12. I had to cut the replacement catch to length.

Honestly that's the least of my worries. Currently it doesn't close. So it's psuedo held shut with a bungee cord.
