Your exhaust sounds good, what type of exhaust do you have?

I just put it on, there's another thread on it. Dual exhaust conversion from Waldron. Sounds really good

My guess on U-joints is they are Spicer 1310 series.

Thx everyone who watched my videos and contributed.

I dropped the driveshaft this afternoon and checked out the u joints. They look brand spanking new, not a bit of slop and they move freely. I regreased them, yes there’s a slip yoke at the tranny end and it appears the zerk is clogged but that’s a job for another day.

As I was just finishing bolting the u joint back on the diff the sky opened up. Since I was under the truck only my feet got wet, but the poor dog, who was helping, was drenched.

I feel 100% better, the little ping occasionally is most likely the driveshaft shifting on the splines since there was no grease.

Next mechanical project, the clutch. It’s chattering. I’ve learned to get rolling by letting out the clutch without adding throttle until it’s fully engaged.

I watched your video, that ping almost sounds like the pinion making contact with the ring gear without any oil or as you and others suggested the yoke moving on the output shaft splines under load. I wouldn’t worry much about it unless you are getting a roar out of the rear axle either on acceleration or deceleration, which would indicate incorrect gear contact/backlash. On both our trucks, I fill the rear end and the trans until oil flows out the filler hole.

The diff sounds normal to me, but a bit hard to hear over the whine of the spur gear tranny. Yes, I filled until the oil dripped out of the filler hole. I need to replace the zerk on the spline so I can get grease in there, but I’m fairly confident that nothing major going on.
