Driveshaft Spline question

Hi Guys, I jsut started working on my 1969 F-100, the tranny was originally a C4, but the PO swapped out a T18 4 speed. I was under then truck yesterday, attaching the reverse light switch and took a snapshot of the driveshaft entering the tranny. It looked to me like a LOT of the spline length was exposed and I was hoping someone with experience could let me know if this is normal, or if I should purchase a different Yoke (think thats what its called)..

Thanks so much! This is my first Truck restoration.

-Steve

I haven't heard anyone mention what percentage of the splines should be engaged. You could drop the drive shaft and see how much is in the yoke. It could be that the c4 was a little longer than the t 18.

2X John. While it does look like a lot of splines hanging out, there has to be room for the splines to enter the yoke when the rear suspension is fully compressed.
