No start 2 days after having 2003 diesel super duty 6.0 tuned. Did run great for 2 days lots more horse power alth it did shift much harder. After 2 wks of being in shop Tech said it was ECM AND took ECM off of his truck and put on mine and it did start. But now no horse power just sluggish. Got truck home and no start again. Came out next morning and it started. Shut it down and tried again and no start again. Any thoughts?
I'd start by pulling codes. You may have a high pressure oil leak - cold, thick oil doesn't leak, but once it warms up and the oil thins, it leaks and won't start. Let it cool down overnight, and it'll start again.
The beauty or the horror of these 6.0s is that you almost have to have some sort of scanner to tell what the engine is not doing right. The electronics control the high pressure oil system which in turn controls the fuel injection which is also partly electronic and the sensors all have to be feeding the correct data to the electronics, plus there is the good old low or no fuel pressure issue that can’t be overlooked. Google Ford 6.0 no start and be sure to watch a few of the videos to learn what to look for. Diesel Tech Ron did a fine job of walking people through the steps I learned a ton from his videos. There are lots of other good ones as well.
