in need of carb swap info please!
hey all, I have a 1987 Bronco w/ the 351 h.o. 4 bbl carb. I am looking into replacing the holley with an edelbrock 1406. here is the info on the carb:
600 cfm, elec choke, jets primary: .098, secondary: .095, rods .070 x .047, step up sring yellow 4 in high. Has timed and full vacuum ports for ignition advance.
These are the questions I could use some help with:
1. How will this carb effect performance on stock motor? increase, decrease, or about the same?
2. Will I be able to pass emissions with this carb?
3. Will fuel milege stay the same, increase, or decrease?
4. Do I need any adapter plates or other special parts to install other than gasket?
Thanx in advance for the help!

Why in the world would you want to take off the BEST carb. out there to put on that edlebrock JUNK? I have an Edlebrock on my 78 351M and I can't wait to finish the re-build on my Holley so I can throw this edle-JUNK away!!! The only edlebrock I would consider is the "truck avenger", if you haven't heard of it...go to SUMMITRACING.COM. Only thing with summit is the price is 4 hundred and something and J.C Whitney has it for 3 something!!
Don't do the swap....you'll be sorry!!!!!!

I and several people I know have had nothing but problems with Edlebrock carbs, Never had problems with Holleys.
I fact, I was going to rebuild the motordraft carb off my 83, and rejet it for a 302, but them I found an old 2-barrel holley that I had in storage, So I'm gonna rebuild it and drop it in my 82.
