What you describe almost sounds like the beginning of a death wobble, which is common in the newer trucks. I wonder if it is just the tip of the iceberg? Would be curious to see if it gets progressively worse with the more miles you rack up, before turning into a full blown death wobble.
Am I misunderstanding or did the OP state that the problem started after he took it into service implying that he didn’t have a vibration prior to the service?
An excerpt from OP’s first post: “So I stopped in at the dealer and asked why this started after their service.…..”
IF that’s the case than it’s likely that the dealer did something to cause the vibration well it was in for service.
Update! So after all has been said and done, Not sure what was the problem but it is gone now and drives perfect.
They had the truck for over a week and when contacted their response was still looking. That was on a wensday morning after over a week of it being there.
I said I would be there on friday before noon to pick it up fixed or not.
Show up and its on the alignment rack and manager says he wants to check the tire balance after it comes off.
2 hour wait and it comes out, only paperwork he has is the tire road balance showing they changed a few weights.
Go inside and requesting ALL service records and they say the printer is down but will mail them to me.
3 weeks and nothing, happen to stop by and all i get is the oil change and tire balance records as to service done.
I saw the truck on the rack and could see the tech working with tools, but there is no record?
Not sure how they got paid and really do not care, Will be looking at another dealer if anything else needs looking at.
So after driving it with and without trailers, will have to assume the problem was alignment after all.
Road tests where at various speeds and conditions without any shakes or vibrations and hands free kept sraight and true path.
Yes a new dealer is definitely in order. Some of these dealers do not sell more than 1 or 2 superdutys a year so it makes u wonder how much experience the service dept has in servicing them.
