I have a 1998 XL 4x4 extended cab with the solid rear window. I have the headliner out because its original and has given up the ghost and I haven't fixed it yet. We've had some torrential downpours here over the past couple of days and water has been pouring through the holes in the metal roof support, about where the nuts are located that hold the rear window trim piece on. So water is pouring out, onto the seat and rear window, so much so that water started pooling up in the front passenger side footwell (its an XL so I have a rubber floor and no carpet). I took the third brake light out and saw that it mounts to the trim and not the cab, but also noticed that there is a gasket across the top of the trim. At this point I am assuming that there is a leak with this gasket, causing water to come down and enter the vehicle through a couple of the holes used for securing the trim onto the truck.
Does anyone know how to replace this gasket without removing the rear window and can anyone provide the part number?
Thank you

LOL Well that's not going to happen. The windows seals between that( frame and the glass). Fixing things around it won't fix it . I know I had to get mine fixed as well . The piece on the back of the cab doesn't seal the window it's a trim piece with a gasket that rots away making you think it's making the windows leak. NOT Herman
one ring of bolts takes out the window... on set of bolts takes off the trim... you only need the window removed... but the butyl seal ring at Auto Store and replace.
I had read of trouble wit the trim mounting holes leaking so when I replaced my leaking slider with a solid glass I pulled the trim also and used the same butyl to reseal it. I also put new foam around the edge of the trim. I know that has nothing to do with leak prevention but I’m just picky like that. Zooming in on the trim piece you can see remnants if the original foam around the outside edge. Ford put it on there when new so I replaced it. The main thing to do when resealing the window is to always do the trim holes also.
