Can anyone tell me the opening width for the door on a 48-52 F1, the cowl bottoms on both sides are rotted out and i have to replace the floor, so I get one opening size on the driver side that is incorrect, and another on the passenger side I am unsure of because it was patched. If someone can give me the measurements for the width of the opening just above the pocket for the bottom door hinge to the rear pillar, and then just below the top hinge pocket to the rear door pillar. Just want to make sure I set it right when I put it back together so the doors fit properly.
I checked 3 different trucks and found 3 slightly different measurements.
On all, the outside corner of the hinge post to outside corner of the back pillar is 1/4" wider than the inside corner measurements. /----------\
Top and bottom measurements are the same, in other words, parallel with each other.
As close as I can figure from my best truck, you want 34" between the inner corners. 34 1/4" between the outside corners.
I measured my 51 above the lower hinge at 34 15/16 on the passenger side and below the upper hinge on the passenger side at 34 7/8. Driver side is 34 7/8 both top and bottom.
So technically, both sides are the same. If you have your doors, mount them and set your gaps and ensure the doors fit.. then weld in cross bracing and door opening bracing before you cut out the floors and rocker pannels.
If you are careful you should come out with well fitting doors.

Thanks for posting your door width measurements, I can use them too!
one other thing, if you don't mind....could you please measure the distance across the cab from the centre of the little triangular gizmo (door stop??) just below the hinge pocket, to the one on the other side. My 51f1 has been hit at some time in the past, and the through the floor/,firewall brackets are toast.
Thanks for your help;
Geoff.
