manual locking hubs

My new to me 1995 ford f250 4x4 has man lock in hubs, I just noticed the transfer case has a shift motor. but it is unpluged and has been for a while. I haven't seen and loose wires in the harness. So has the transfer case been changed. I have the 4x4 stick in the floor but no switch.

Sounds like yes, but I was unaware you could add a shifter to the auto-xfer case to where it was worth the trouble.

Better verify your floor shifter is actually connected... Sounds like someone shoved a ESOF transfer case to solve a problem and it's no able to be shifted.

I checked the floor shift when I got the truck. It was pretty easy to engage but I like to never got it to disengage. I checked the tag but I know it could have been changed. I look for numbers on the case. Here's a picture of the plug I was talking about.

That is a speedometer sensor from an earlier model truck. It is not plugged in because the later trucks use the VSS in the rear axle for speed signal.

The shifter or shift motor will be on the forward side of the transfer case.

Don’t you mean on the back of the case?
