Wondering where exactly you folks are mounting your step plates on the running boards. Finally got mine, wondering if they are to be centered under door and how far in from running board outer edge.
Do you mount directly onto running board or rubber washers underneath?
Sit in the truck, now with someone outside the truck with a piece of blue tape mark exactly where you and your passenger step out and onto the running board. Its usually just behind the floor mat portion or right at the front of the bench seat. Remember these should be used so that you will step on them getting out and getting into your truck. I would come out to the edge of that last ridge though as far as left to right mounting. The most crucial part is fore and aft or front to back.
I wouldn't bother with rubber washers but I would bother to paint the inside of the hole you drilled for mounting the four screws or even better bolts. Nylon washers might be a good idea.
I wish I wasn't such a stupid purist. My truck had them before. I took them off when I painted and got new correct running boards. They are super handy and practical! Shhh, dont wake up Abe...

Thanks - Yep, it's the F3.
Same one as the 'before' picture in my profile. The truck sat in a junkyard for 48 years before I rescued it. And the same one that I drove from Maine to central Pennsylvania for the 2019 Truckstock.
I added the step plates since I spent so much time and effort straightening and restoring a set of near-impossible-to-find donor running boards for a longbed. Wanted the running boards to really stand out.
