The (original) 300 in my 95 F150 needs a valve cover gasket. Other than that gasket, and the upper to lower intake gasket, is anything else needed? I don't want to dig in and find I need something else.
Rockauto shows them from $4 to $22. Who makes good ones?
By 95, they were all silicone. The bolt hole sizes are smaller on the newer valve cover, and it uses compression rings around the holes to help seal. I don't think there's a cork gasket available.
You don't necessarily need to do it while you have the valve cover off, but while you're in there, I'd also do the pushrod cover gasket on the driver's side of the engine. It's a source of a lot of leaks and is inexpensive and easy to replace.
