I am looking to swap out the NP435 in my 1967 F250 2WD; It has a FE big block. I have a 4 speed from a 67 Fairlane with a 390, my question is do I need to use the Fairlane bellhousing?
Thank you for the info on the bell housing, just trying to be prepared when I start. The weight of my truck is 3815lb, a Fairlane ranges from 2900 to 3608LB with the GT convertible - hopefully 1st gear will be manageable. Really just trying to improve the drivability of the truck, the NP435 is like driving a "truck". Open to other transmission options.
Gashog if you have other suggestions please share, I dont mind spending $1000 +, I just want the truck to be more fun to drive. I have a 352 bored and stroked to a 390 with a nice cam, aluminum intake and carter carb so she will move but the current tranny is taking the real fun out of driving it.
The real question should be where is the shifter going to come through the floor, since that shifter is at the back? As far as TKOs you can find a used one for less than $1000, possibly even locate a NV4500.
