What is up with getting a new sender and fuel pump assembly? It's like they never existed.
1990 F250 Single Cab Long Bed 460 E4OD 18.2gal Rear Steel, 19gal Midship Steel, 8600GVWR
The senders do not work anymore and now the rear FP decided to start starving. So as long as I'm yanking the bed off, might as well fix it all. I even called the local Ford parts shop, and the dude told me >$500 each and refused to give me a part number. WTH? It's a PART NUMBER not the codes in the football for the love of Pete.
I think I'm just going to go to the range and vent some paper.
Lordy.
The Motorcraft pumps are spendy. The part number for your rear tank is PFB3. For the front tank it is PFB1.
I don't see an assembly for the front tank other than Motorcraft. For the rear tank, SKP part SKEFP008 will work and is about 1/4 the cost of the Motorcraft pump.
Well, with the help of a parts guy that actually likes his job, I think we have come up with the Delphi equivalents to the Spectra assemblies I located that are 'no-gots.'
For future reference, it seems that in 90 they went to the high pressure in-tank pumps with no external pump and no mechanical selector valve. The anti-backfill function is a part of the new pump assemblies. So 90 and 91 have the 92-97 style pumps but with the early connector - the straight four on the bulkhead. The new ones have the round four pin on a pig tail. The new pumps come with the harness end for the round four to adapt your harness. I'm picking them up today as well as a new fuel filter as I suspect the original 31YO unit is still in place. Will report back results. It will be nice to have a working fuel gauge again.
Delphi P/Ns:
Rear - HP10262, this is for the 18.2gal steel tank.
Midship - HP10274, this is for the 19gal steel tank.
Well, turns out there's one of each. The Midship unit has the correct four inline bulkhead connector and the rear has the additional connector to swap on to the harness.
Now, just need to get it into my neighbor's shop so we can use the lift to get the bed out of the way.
