Hi all, recently converted back to a Powerstroke from a Ram. The new truck has the puck system. I currently use a demco hijacker auto slide 5th wheel hitch. I had it on plain above bed rails in my Ram. I found where Demco has an adapter for the Ford system, but at $650, its pretty dang high. I was wondering if there were any other options before I bought the demco? Thanks.

Well, I went the other way. When I did, I installed a Reese Goosebox on my 5th wheel so now all I need is the ball in the bed of my truck. Probably a more expensive way to go; but figured with that it is a one time deal.
Thanks for info. I really like having the autoslide as I can turn over 90* if the situation called for it with out contacting the cab. I never have had to turn it that sharp, but I like options. Thats the only reason I didnt do the same thing as you.
If your puck system is in a 8 foot bed, no need probably for the slider.
Sell it and get a hitch for the puck system.
If you are still in a 6 and 3/4, that Demco setup is piced pretty high.
Both Curt and Reese have puck to rail convert systems for around 300.
Thanks fellas. That is exactly what I was looking for. I thought the price of the demco was high for what it is. And yes. I am in a short bed. I know the long bed would be better, but I just dont want to daily drive a long bed. And we only tow long trips 2 times a year, maybe 3 at most.

I've also got the Demco Autoslide in my setup. And while it's a great hitch, I can only usually manage about a 45 with mine. The F250 sits so high, in order to minimize the nose high effect on my fiver, I had to lower the Demco to it's lowest setting, and raise the pin box to it's highest. At that combination, I've got about 5" of clearance between the trailer and the tailgate, but the pinbox will contact the rails of my BakFlip if I turn more than 45. Hasn't really affected me though. Beyond 45, the trailer's no longer backing up, and is just pivoting in place, so not really an issue. I don't really get into a lot of places where I'd have the need to pivot the trailer.
Don't need to spend $600+ or buy the frame. Here's the kit to convert your hijacker to puck system for $270. I have this hitch on the pucks, very clean install.
I had the Curt adapter and it worked great, but it took up too much space in the bed. I ultimately bought a hitch designed for the pucks. I would definitely recommend the coversion kit by the previous poster made for your hitch. It appears to solve your issue and not take up a lot if room.

Thank you so much for that info. I emailed Demco about the time I posted this thread and they reached out and let know about the coversion kit. But you provided me a link and a better price than they quoted me....so thank you.
And as far as the 90*. I only did that the first time hooking up the 5iver at the dealership during delivery. I have never needed to ever turn that sharp but I liked knowing I could if I had to. BUT......that was in my Ram megacab. I have yet to pull it with my new truck. But I will likely do the same test just for piece of mind.
