Axle codes?

there is a tag in the engine compartment, attached to the firewall, on a stamped piece of metal.
There is also a VIN code stamped into the frame rail on the passenger side inside at or near a cab mount.
the best ID is the buck tag on a Ford 9" or the casting code on a dana axle.
you have a 9" rear for sure, its an F100.

hey mattsbox? how do you know that it is a dana 44 with a 60 housing etc? Also where in the engine compartment is this tag located? Lastly, I don't know whether this is going to help or not, but my cousin has a 1977.5 F-250, and his front shocks have a mount at the bottom that a bolt goes through, and a mount at the top that has a bolt that you just thread a nut on. My truck has a "bolt" on both ends that you have to just thread a nut (plus bushing etc) on. Thanks

He said sticker but may have meant the METAL door plate called the rating plate,
This plate only tells the story of how it left the factory.
30 years later things might have changed.
To know for sure, you need to count the ring gear & pinion gear, then do the math.
ie: 33 tooth ring gear
11 Tooth Pinion gear
33 divided by 11 = 3.00 : 1 ratio

Haha I can see I have quite a dilema on my hands now. Ok, I looked on the sticker on te door jam and it had my vin, those two other numbers, and the total gvwr as 7400LB, the front is 4500LB, and the back is 4610LB. The actually on the door plate is of no use since it is not an original door. the engine compartment tag is no where to be found. Another bit of info is that I cant tell what axle it is just by looking at the number on the lower right of the axle because this is covered by the u-bolt mounts for the front leaf springs. this along with the weird shocks i stated previously. At this point i just want to know what axle i have forget about the ratio! If you need more info just by looking at it i can help you experts out. Thanks again i hope to get this figured out soon.

I have a 75 F250 w 44 up front and 60 in the rear. If you look at the front of the pumpkin, the lower webbing on the pass side you should see the number for the axle. Mine says 44 6EF (no clue what the other code is). I also just converted mine from full time to part time, I used warn premium hubs. I'm curious to what was said about the axle being a 60 with 44 ring and pinion. If you get more info please let me know.
