oh you better not dog the 400, that just shows how little you know. plus i have one and i love it, and i know it's not a p.o.s.

by the way a 302 could be called a dog to in the stock form, but built up nicely.

and why do you insist on ******* someone elses truck? who cares what you really think? just make a nice comment or none at all. don't need to bash someone else hard work in an effort to make you look better, just makes you look like an ***.

The only truck I have ever owned worth bragging about is my 1967 F600 with a 16' grain box. Dad bought it new in 67 and I bought it from mom after he died. Has a 300 I6 that has never had the head off with 300,000+ miles (for 5 years the speedo didn't work). Has hauled everything from grain , hay, other trucks, gravel, cattle, logs, to even a small house we picked up off an auction. In the past eight years the only repairs its needed in 50K+ miles are brakes and a little tune up on the two speed. Until something else comes along that can take the abuse this old horse has endured (has been rolled on its side twice but only damaged the mirrors, and ran over a station wagon back in '71) its the toughest thing I have ever driven.

Thanks for the backup, Pro. I do drive my truck with pride and get many looks at the body, let alone the oohs and ahhs when I open the hood.

Thank you too, Cool, Fordman and Texan. Didn't get to the 2nd page. It is an awesome truck. If you happen to have the June '03 copy of Truckin', you can see it on page 122, bottom right!!!!!!!!!

Too bad it's only trucks we can brag about!

My 2000 F-350 V-10 is a nice truck, fun to drive. Few mods, Gibson headers, Gibson cat-back, punched cat. K&N home made ram air kit (zoodad). High performance Ignition system from Kenne Bell, Superchips 1715, 2002 ford Cobra throttle body and thats all for now. I have ordered the Kenne Bell twin screw supercharger. Looking to get heads ported and new cams soon. But waiting to see if it is compatable with supercharger. I'm hoping to get 500 hp at the rear wheels eventually.

Now if I could only tell you about my Factory five A/C cobra with a 429 CID......kicks out 508 hp at the flywheel, weighs 2700 lbs. Taking it down to ATCO raceway next spring to run the quarter....You think it will break 11's?

Its worth 5 HP if you put the sticker on too! SVT needs you in their development team!

My truck- it cranks by the second try every time. The 302 is tired, so I decided to help it die with a 500 CFM holley 2bbl (with custom welding rod linkage), Pertronix ignition, Accel Coil, re-curved distributor, 2 and a quarter inch duals through Borla Turbos, and one time I added some octane boost in the gas tank! And I changed the oil yesterday too! I put a Mustang charging system in it, (40 amps rather than 36). And a big bad 9 inch rear end with 3.25 gears. So what if it came stock!

I would guess it makes like like 165 RWHP (135 stock), but at 1800 rpms, I have enough torqu to uproot a tree. A very small tree, that is.

Hey grapegravy,

I noticed your from South Jersey, I let ya know when I get the time to get over to ATCO. I 'd like to run my truck also in some handicap races. They are alot of fun! The A/C cobra is a nice kit car from Factory Five Racing. They have a web site. The one I bought cost around $15,000. You basically cannablize a ford cobra mustang for parts. I got the 429 CID from a friend who builds dragsters. He had it from a cobra jet that got wrecked. It was just sitting around his shop until he found time to restore another mustang. The 429 has alot of custom parts. I bought it off him for a hefty sum. He told me it cranks 508 horse at the flywheel. I can't wait to run it wide open! It just melts tires around here.

I hear ya Bigd, that thing will get some nice responses at Atco. I plan on running my truck when all is said and done too. Seen quite a few work trucks there running for just the fun of it, gotta love it. Those kit cars will run a high bill. 508 sounds about right. After the truck is done, then I gotta decide what to do next. Don't know if I want a big cruiser like a Centurion or an old muscle car like a Cougar or go crazy with a Truimph GT-6 on a real frame. Decisions,,, decisions,, decisions,,, I'll see ya in the burn-out pit

Everything can be beat... but a applaude your 460. as for the GIRL who has a 400m.... this shows your a girl no offence... you should have done your home work... because a 351/400m is a p.o.s that came with only a 2 barrel intake and is as sad as the chevys 305. I wouldnt be thorwing around a 400m but every thing else is good.. just thought i would say that its not a smart motor to rebuild.

Hot Rod had a 400 in a Ranchero cranking out 400+HP for about $2500 a couple years ago. This was with a 2bbl carb & single exhaust, & passing Cail emissions.

The 400M is one of my 5 favorite engines.

1992 F-350 4x4 diesel, ZF 5-speed, base model

Mine has survived several years as a construction foreman's truck, my hard use, & 2 wrecks: I had a Pathfinder hit the left front (fender, grille, left headlight replaced) about a year ago, & a red-light runner in a Frontier clobber the right-rear recently (bed, bumper, & a rim destroyed). Geez, I need to stay away from Nissans.

The truck has 337,000 miles, & still fires without the heater in 20 degree weather. It still totes an 8' Fisher plow.
