As long as the bolt pattern works you are good with any wheel. Some rims also require hub centric rings, something to watch out for. Just learned that myself.
Is this because the wider track, I wonder how these old trucks handled new, I think might been pretty bad. think it would be better to up grade the brakes and just put tbird rear under it. Sorry for asking so many questions but thats one way for people to learn. Thanks
Don't apologize for asking questions . This is by far the best site I know of for help and support which in turn results in allot more finished projects instead of abandoned frustrated attempts . And yes the width is the issue . I would suggest finding someone with a good rebuilt or slightly upgraded front end and convince them to let you drive it . This will give you a good handle on what you will find acceptable .
My suggestion is to find a truck show close to you and attend it. Most folks don’t mind telling you what they did to make things work. There’s a smaller show in Branson, MO 16-17 July, The Ozark Mountain Run that might not be that far from you. But if you really wanna see some trucks attend the Grand Nationals or Super Nationals both in or around Pigeon Forge, TN. Their both on the web.
The Crown Vic thing is an either or. People love them or they hate them. You’ll get every answer in the book on if they fit. Tire selection is limited because of the offset needed but believe me there are plenty of rims you can buy for them.
I thought about getting a dropped axle from speedway motors, Have to see if anyone builds hubs with 5 on 4.5 bolt pattern that will fit the stock spindles since I'm going to use the tbird 9 in.

I have a set of adapters that bolt onto the stock 5x5.5 pattern and then gives you the 5x4.5 pattern for wheels to bolt on
After thinking about it I have decided to put the crown vic front end and the thunderbird rear since I already have both .the bird rear is the same width as the truck. Someone wrote on here about some loving the crown swap and some hate it. would like someone who has done it to tell me the pros and cons. Again thanks for the help
You can spot a Crown Vic swap right away on these trucks because the the tires are on the outer limits and almost contacting the fenders, it's done because it's a cheap alternative of a new cross member. I've never done a Crown Vic and will never after dealing with a frame swap I did when not calculating the tracking width. If I had bought an aftermarket cross member in the first place with what I spent to correct it I could have done the next two builds. Big plus also is you have hundreds of wheels to choose from..live and learn..
Hope whoever has done it gives you honest feed back..
