The balancer on my 390 is marked C4AE-6316-B it's the one with the built in pulley. Googled the number and Mac's/Eckler's says they have them. Received it today (FedEx on a Sunday) and of course its not the same. The new one is about a quarter inch shorter where it would go on the crank. Other than that, the circumference and bolt pattern for accessory pulleys seems the same. I've looked now at crankshaft spacers and they seem to only be one size about 3.35 inches. Since this new one is shorter I'm going to end up with a space between it and the spacer.
Anyone run in to this. The packing slip says C3AZ-6312-E claims it replaces my part which seems odd as that would be an older number.
Also if you line up the keyways the TDC marks are about 8 degrees off. If mine was slipping that could be explained.
Had a similar problem with the balancer on my 69 429 (available for other years but not 69). Sent the original off the get rebuilt, works fine and obviously fits. Can't remember who I sent it to but there are plenty of companies listed on the web. Can't remember the $$$ but it wasn't bad.
