Steering Column question. Please help!
I appreciate this site and I’m thankful in advance for your help. I have a 1980 F100 with a 3 on the tree steering column. Unfortunately, my shifter collar broke and while replacing it with one from a 77-79 truck that I used the grinder on, I realized the PO had done some surgery on the column and I was missing quite a few parts. I looked everywhere to try to find a replacement column and had a hard time finding anything under $600. Hah I paid $800 for the truck!
anyways,
I had accepted my destiny to move the shifter to the floor and throw in a new shift on the floor column. The hurst three speed is on the way....and then I found a 1983 econoline ford van with a 3 on the tree near me for $100. If I pull out this column from the van, will it fit my 1980 f100 and save me from cutting up old blue?!
thanks y’all!
Adam
P.S. I just checked car-part, you are right there are not many old ford pickups around there. So you might better get the van column and if it won't fit, maybe you can marry the several columns you do have together to get something workable.
