We bought a L9000 with a Cummings for cheap. Detroits Yes I know, but never had
a Cummins. My son bought it don't know about paper work, so it has square headlights so could be early 1990s has a 7 speed Spicer it starts on a dime no glow
plugs no either in the cold, but smokes like a train but ain't skipping, in the hot summer. Its a 6 cylinder, question is, what is this engine so I can buy a book. and
it is NOT a NH 855 gutless anchor. If it were a 6-71 I'd say dribbling injector. My friends throw numbers at me like its a BT6 L10 L11 I got no clue what their talking
about. found nothing on google either or books we have in the shop. sam
Not much info there.
Ford started putting square headlights in the L model in the later 80's, being a 9000 model it won't have the smaller 6BT, 8.3 Cummins
The more popular big Cummins would be the NTC Big Cam or later N14, midsize engine is the L10 or M11 that replaced the L10 in 94
I can not get pictures from phone to computer it did once work but no more. ? all
I can say its the common short nose with a doghouse inside. I have no idea if the
injectors have wires or not like a powerstroke ?????
You said it was a 9000 model so the Cummins engines they used in the late 80's/and 90's L models where the L10, M11, Big Cam 3 or 4 and N14
L10 has one piece valve cover
M11 also has one piece valve cover but also has a computer on the side of the block
Big Cam 3-4 have 3 heads with separate valve covers
N14 also has 3 heads along with a computer on the side of the block
The smaller 5.9 and 8.3 Cummins engines are found in the lower series 6,7,8000 chassis, highly unlikely one would be in a 9000, I've never seen one.
Notice the engine ID tags on the sides of the engines, 5.9 and 8.3 also have these tags.
most likely is a L10, M11 production started in 94.
look inside the door jam for labels, there should be on near the vin number that has the build date listed
