Great forum. I am working on a 1970 f100. I found a used T85N-R11 i would like to use for it. My question is what is it's original application just in case there is anything different about it. From the research I have done I know this:
-The casting number is T85N-1B vs most of them are -1A. Is this just a continuation casting number?
-It has a "late model" solenoid with the wires running directly into the solenoid vs having external terminals.
-It has no bell hsg.
-1 1/16" 10 spline input.
I have searched the internet and no website I have found goes into this depth to explain applications or if there are differences in parts..
That tag was abbreviated by Ford. My Ford microfische shows it as C8TA7003AS. It was installed in F100s with 6 or 8 cylinders. From 1968 to 1971. Warner T85 L/D O/D. Ford considered it a 3 speed (with O/D).
