Rear Axle Code Info Required

Rear Axle Code Info Required
Hello folks. Just a question on a rear axle metal tag that shows the following info: First line: WDM C; Second line 3.70 A7S
Hopefully NumberDummy can decipher this for me. It's on an rear differential assembly that I just acquired, presently under a 1964 Mercury M100 Short Box. This tag info does not match what's shown on the VIN plate at the door location, so I doubt that it originally belongs to this truck.. Vin plate shows 3.92.1 What year of truck would it be from?

WDM C with a 3.70 ratio showing is from a '63 to '72 F100. 28 spline axles, non-limited slip.
A7S Doesn't decode to a date code afaik, maybe a plant code.

Hi and thanks for the info. Yes, it's the A7S that is a mystery to me too. It would appear that somewhere in the past, the entire rear differential has been changed from the 3.92 Dana/Spicer type(shown on the door) to the 3.70 Ford type(shown by the tag).
