After a lot of back & forth of using my original bed or buying a new one.... I bit the bullet and went with a new one.
I made a road trip to Mid fifty a couple of weeks ago.....picked up the bed, windshield, rear bumper & brackets, & some other misc stuff. Saved about $500-$600 on shipping costs. The bed sides are from Mar-k...very nice ...the holes for the fenders were already punched out. The wood is red oak....i thought i might have to raise the floor a couple of inches becsuse i have the extended rear shackles and i wasnt sure if they would hit the wood or not. The shackles clear by about 3/8"
Would give us a best guess as to any time you saved or how mush more time went into the new bed
Not sure about the time but it was more a dollar issue...... the original bed needed the front panel, both bedsides have about 3-4 cracks in them. I dont weld, so I
would have to pay someone to weld them up. Plus the sides are pretty beat up, I used to haul dirt bikes in there and the foot pegs did a number on them.
So I figured that for the money & time I would be better off to just buy new.
The bed looks great. I also opted for a new box as mine was too far gone. I got mine from Midwest Early Fords and it is very nice also. Looks like the same quality as yours.
In 2016 I bought a new bed from Mid West Early Ford to replace my used incorrect bed from a 1970 F100. It only cost $600. I picked it up at
Spring Carlisle to avoid freight costs. Awesome deal.
