I have a cheap set of pads on the truck and the dust is terrible. I am going to replace them when I put new wheel bearings in the front insides. I'm looking for advice on the three features but mainly dust elimination. Stopping power, no squeal and lowest dust possible. I do no hauling or towing. Your advice is appreciated and I like to deal with RockAuto but the parts stores or online ordering is fine also. Thank you Sandy
Generally you're going to want to switch to a ceramic composition pad, if you're trying to eliminate brake dust. I don't have any specific brand recommendations.
you can get some wagner brand pads from the parts stores their ceramics are very nice. practically no dust generation and they last practically forever. going on 3+ years on my pads no end in sight.
Great discussion with lots of points brought out...
Something has to "wear"... The dusty pars are wearing before the rotors. Do some research on rotor wear with the ceramic... Just depends what you want to replace the next time the brakes wear out...
Verify that your system is not doing more braking with the front than it is designed for...
I haven't done this on my pickup yet, but every time I've used ceramic pads, I put in fresh rotors. The last time I put in drilled and slotted rotors with the ceramic pads on my wife's minivan. I figured that would help with the extra heat ceramic pads are prone to produce. Hopefully they won't chew these rotors up too bad. LOL.
I used a set of ebc green stuff pads when I did braided SS lines & a slotted rotor. (forget what brand)
That's their low dust pad & they did just that. Seem to clean up easier too. Gripped really well, especially in the wet. Had a caliper hang & wear oddly so I didn't the mileage I expected on one side.
Had to go back with O'reily's premium house ceramic due to time down constraints. Good pad, but noticeably dirtier.
