I've recently purchased a 60 F-100. It's in really good shape and all but the one problem is the paint job.
Someone decided turqoise and butterscotch was a good color . So I want to get a new paint job, however I was wondering if any of you know of a program that would allow me to try different colors to give me an idea what my truck would look like before I get it painted.
I haven't heard of a computer program, but someone around here once suggested going to the galleries at the right and doing a search by year. It should give you some good ideas.
Paint color is very subjective. I would not trust a computer program. The only sure way to know if you like a color is to see it outside in the sun in person. Then the hard part comes. You will need the paint name/code and paint manufacturer. Good luck, John
It gets more complicated as you also need to know what primer color he used as it will effect the final color. You also should find out how the paint was finished. A paint that was color sanded with 2000 grit will look different than a 400 grit. Clear coats will also change the appearance. I have seen the same color on different cars and the end result is completely different. Red seems to be especially finicky.
Someone decided turquoise and butterscotch was a good color .
- Take that back, and I'd be glad to do some color mixing for you in photoshop. You have pics of the truck? Photoshop is a very expensive program, but it does the job. I can't think of too many "do it your self" programs otherwise I'd let you have the fun. -4speed
Thanks for the info . The current color combo isn't too bad, just somethin that takes some time to get used to . I wish I had pics of the truck but I don't have a digital camera or a scanner at the moment. I'm thinking of going with Canyon Blue. It was either that or dark metallic gray.
I'll photoshop my truck for you, so what color do you want to see it the most in, and what wheels and tire combo do you want? is yours a bigwindow or small? custom cab? styleside? let me know and I'll do a little rendering for you. -4speed
My truck has the styleside bed, custom cab, small window. Here's the rims i want to put on it. Rims and Tires. As for the colors I want to try, Canyon Blue, Dark Metallic Gray, Then the same colors as your truck only swap them around so white is on the bottom and the teal is on the top half.
