front is stock mirror mount. Don't know if back one is part of it as well. Mine had those holes plugged and aftermarket mirrors. My donor cab had the front brackets but no mirrors. I put the brackets on after painting. They looked better than the cheesy tin plugs to me. If you really zoom in you can see the bracket.

Hey guys does anyone know what these brackets would have been used for back in the day? And how did they lock the doors back in the day 1960 f500
I don't know how they would have locked these doors unless they tied it in with a key. The entire door handle and latch assembly is not factory for your truck which you probable know. On stock setups, you push the door handle the opposite way from opening to lock it or use the key on the outside!
Not sure how this setup works since it is all custom and not original. On stock setups you push the door handle the opposite way from opening it to lock or use the key on the outside.
Mine only gas key on passenger door. You can lock the drivers door by handle but you have to unlock and enter from passenger door. Throwback to safety idea of not standing outside driver's door.
Safety door and also sometimes referred to as gentleman principle by letting the passenger in first and if they loved you they would lean over and unlock yours and if not leave you standing there looking silly! lol
The door latch has been replaced with something from a much later vehicle. It would be helpful if you could find out the year/model of the donor. That latch would lock with the key from the outside and another linkage (which appears to be missing) to a "toggle" control on the inside. You can probably hook up the outside key with a simple linkage, perhaps the original 1960 linkage will work and avoid conflict with the window. You will need the rest of the assembly to build the inside "toggle".
The only other option I can see would be to rip it all out, find a donor door that you can use as is or cut out the missing piece to replace yours, then replace with the original style "guts." As already mentioned, with the original door mechanism you pulled the door handle toward you to open the door and pushed it away from you to lock the door. There was a key lock on the passenger's side for outside entry. I believe the Custom Cab models came with locks on both sides.

Driver's door key may have been standard on F100 but my donor f600 was custom cab without key.

I didn't even know you could get an F-600 with a custom cab! I only know how my truck was equipped as it's been in the immediate family since new. I do have an original copy of the sales information on filmstrip of all things! I finally have it unpacked, I'll have to figure out a way to review it and give everyone a data dump one of these days.

P.S. Installing a driver's door lock was a common upgrade to our trucks. Usually handled by a dealership, competent repair shop, or fleet service.
I don't know what the f600 was originally. I removed the custom cab emblems, stainless window trim, etc. Data plate showed it as a long wheel base and what was left if original paint was blue. I found what I thought was undercoating that turned out to be either asphalt or a mix of crude oil and gravel. At least one of the local water well drillers started here with equipment from his father's oil drilling equipment from Bakersfield. Very odd someone would have paid extra for a work truck. Then again, look at some of the big rigs all decked out.

If it had the stainless window trim, it was probably an original Custom Cab that someone special ordered. As far as I know there is no way to tell for sure. If it has a DSO number on the data plate it would seem likely it was ordered that way.
Hey guys, I didn’t know anything about these trucks before I bought one and I thought the only way to lock it was the key lol. Thanks for the info!!! I’m going to have to check it out the next time I go work on it hahaha
I hope you get issues sorted with as much ease as possible!
