just got my 1994 f150 to start up again since i replaced the tank and damaged stuff, the front tank was scrapped and we left the lines ziptied to the frame and put little red rubber caps on them. the trucks started and ran fine but as it was idling down one of the caps popped off and spewed gas all over. is the front fuel tank lines supposed to be filling up like that?? the tank selector switch was on the rear tank (the good tank.)
The pump in the tank has a check valve in it to keep the rear tank from pumping it full or over full of gas. Last time I had to cap off a gas tank line my local parts store had a dorman line that was male to male. I cut it in half. Then put a compression fitting tube to pipe with a pipe cap on it. Got everything tight and then plugged it in the line. No leaks and holds up to the pressure. Dorman 800-154 is the 5/16 line or return side. 800 - 155 is a 3/8 line pressure supply side. Dorman 800-159 has both sizes. Will need both as the return side will not have the pressure normally, but I would not want to risk the cap popping off and leaking gas all over.

Yes. The check valves that keep fuel from returning to the wrong tank is located in the Fuel Delivery Module (fuel pump assembly) so there is always gas in the lines. There are threads on how to delete the second tank. Why didn’t you just replace the damaged gas tank? You can get a brand new tank for less than $100 delivered to your front door. I wouldn’t want to cut my driving range in half.

because both tanks were rusted heavily but the front tank had some bullet holes in it for some reason and im not worried about range since im only 15 so i cant legally drive so i just replaced the rear tank.
If you've still got the roached tank, you could cut the ends off that tank's fuel pump, weld or solder the cut ends shut, then plug those into the lines like OFF is talking about. Obviously make sure you don't have pinholes in your welds before putting pressure to them!
