i have a '99 F250SD that I have swapped into it axles, suspension, and all steering linkage from a '06 F350SD. The front axles swapped took me from a Dana 50 to either a Dana 60 or Super 60. Whatever came in the SRW F350SD for a front axle has a longer snout than the Dana 50 I pulled out. My question, does anyone have a list of front driveshaft lengths that Ford made that could be a near ballpark for length?
Next question. Does anyone know anyone that does driveshaft work in the Kansas City area?
Im in need of same info Hope you get info soon. I have seen on rockauto they have drive shafts list
I have a 99 f250 zf5 trans that i want to put into my 02 f350 measure and looking like the auto trans is 1.5 inches longer that the zf5
The front driveshaft from my donor (06 F350 SRW 5R110 Regular cab) was way too short.
The driveshaft from my truck (e99 F250SD 4R100 Super Cab) is about an inch too long to even fit into the yoke...so realistically it's about two inches too long.
I'd go with a longer driveshaft and have it shortened to whatever length you need. As long as the ends match your application, it's fairly easy to shorten a driveshaft. Lengthening a driveshaft on the other hand requires retubing and involves basically twice the work.
Agreed...or modify the shaft I have that's a smidge too long. That's why I was also looking for someone in KC Metro that can do driveshaft work.
Apologies. I didn't mean to be "Captain Obvious" :-) I found a good driveline shop in my area by asking the guys at my local Napa store. Hopefully there's a Napa near you with an old fart working there who knows the neighborhood.
That's a good idea on finding a NAPA old fart; experience is always good. I'm hoping someone around here has used someone local and has feedback. If not someone has to be first, haha.
