Hey guys, so I'm considering doing some more lighting upgrades to my truck. I've already upgraded to the 05-07 headlights which are much better than stock. However, there are still times where I wish I had a little bit more light output. Mainly when driving on back roads, which I do quite often. So at the moment, I'm considering a small light bar in the bumper or maybe some fog lights. I'm leaning towards LED, is there any reason I shouldn't? Also, what are some good, reputable aftermarket lighting companies for our trucks? Thanks guys.
What did you use for bulbs in the updated light housings? I have updated my bulbs in my 02 to LED. I don't know if it is the greatest thing or not, but I do have better light output than it did before. I bought some bulbs off Amazon. I think Aukee was the brand I used. I have been looking into some auxiliary lights as well. There are now DOT approved LED driving lights on the market. They are more expensive than your typical cheap led pods, but they are tested and legal for use on road. The lens and reflector are designed so it has a nice even cut off so they don't blind oncoming drivers.
@Squirrel13 what foglight replacements are those if I may ask?
Old set of Rigid Industries cubes I had off my Jeep. Make sure you get new style DOT ones. These are a bit bright for the street so I dont use them in town much.
I believe I used sylvania ultra bright or something like that. It's more of a white light and for a halogen bulb it does pretty good. I like that setup on your excursion Squirrel. Looks really clean. If you don't mind, could you take a pic at night with the light bar and cubes on? Also, did you wire the bar and cubes into the factory switch or did you put a separate switch in?
Jo7.3 the cubes are wired into the factory harness and the Switch Pros. I can turn them on with factory switch or by themself. The X isnt a daily, I will try and grab a night pic next time I take it out
I would be using them as supplements to high beams, so actually the brighter sort may work well. I have been playing with lighting in the truck and I haven't quite found a combination that satisfies me yet. Further, my truck is a 03/2000, so to the best of my knowledge it doesn't even have a harness.
Let me go look - I assume I'd have to source Ford factory foglight brackets?
Jo, have you messed with the adjustment of your headlights? I did that with my truck when I first got it and that made a huge difference in night time visibility.

Sorry for the late response, been really busy with work. I have adjusted the headlights a little bit. However, the 05-07 headlights only have 1 adjustment screw, and it moves the beam up and down. There is no side to side adjustment. I do have a leveling kit so I adjusted the lights down a bit. Might adjust them back up a hair to experiment, but on low beams, the lights are pretty close to glaring through the rear glass on most cars and suvs.
