Hey everyone, this is my first post and I'm really appreciative of all the information that I found on this website. I have a 1999 Ford 6.8 motorhome that is throwing the code p0401. I just put smoke through the intake and found that this little part has an air leak. Can someone please help me identify what this little cap is on the backside of the throttle body? The picture is taken from inside the cab through the doghouse. Thanks!Jake
That is the vent cap on your Idle Air Control valve assembly, if I'm looking at the pic correctly - the entire assembly is replaced, not just individual components of it.
It also has nothing to do with the EGR flow detection usually - although I'm not totally familiar with that engine. The EGR flow is usually a sensor that will have two hoses connected to it, which are then routed to two metal tubes that will tap into the EGR pipe - it measures differential pressure to determine flow. That sensor is also known as the DPFE sensor (picture blatantly stolen from another thread here). I would be looking at the DPFE and associated connections
